About the event

Since the industrial revolution, and after the Second World War, the Finnish and other Baltic people’s cultural tradition of sauna has been widely enjoyed.  Here at Steady Slope, we learned to sauna on farms in the upper midwest (geography colonized by Eastern and Northern Europeans), and in gyms and health clubs.  We strongly appreciate the therapeutic value of the heat exposure, as well as the cold exposure.  However, we also know we need the opportunity to connect with other members of our community, especially over health and wellness.  In the spirit of abundance and conviviality, we invite you to join us for an open-house style sauna session.  The sauna is hot, and most often steamed, up to 200 degrees cooling throughout the session.  As climatic condition permit there is a cold bath for plunge, and an outdoor shower with hot and cold water.  Find your primal self by starting with a cold shower, join your neighbors on the blazing hot benches, and cool off in the full length cast iron bath tub.  Sittings are limited to six persons, so please RSVP by text to Amanda (203-530-7437) or email host@seadyslope.com.
